Moving is the pits! The cleaning and packing. The boxes and the tape. The bubble wrap and newspapers. I can honestly count how many times in my life I have moved from one home to another, and it’s eight. I am now packing a stressing in preparation for my ninth move. I’m not sure if having moved nine times in the 26 years of my life is a lot or not so much, but I can say that I would like NOT to move another nine times in the rest of my years.

Like most people who do things multiple times I believe I have gotten a bit better at moving, though it’s not really a skill that I pride myself in possessing. Being a massage therapist I have plenty of sheets for my massage table and I like to use them (clean of course) in leu of newspaper for packing glasses and dishes. I’ve definitely learned the benefits of writing a description of the contents on the outside of boxes, and I truly understand the value of hiring professional movers to do the lifting, loading and unloading.

What I don’t like and apparently have not gotten better at, is the selection of where to live. Not all of my moves have been inspired by just not liking the current place. There were the moves to college, the move back to Mom and Dad’s house from college, the start over someplace new move, and the move in with the love of my life. Those moves each had a reason, a necessity and often benefits, and some life changing. These last two and half or three moves though, have been of the “just can’t find the right place” nature and all in Petaluma

I feel like the Golidlocks Petaluma! The first place we lived here in Petaluma was nice and quiet, but felt too old and dated. The second place we lived in (still in Petaluma) was new and modern, but so loud we lost sleep! Soon we will be moved into our third Petaluma home and it will be right downtown! We will be able to walk to MoYo to satisfy our fro-yo needs (and I won’t need my drivers license thank you very much) and can walk to all of our favorite restaurants and coffee shops! I have to admit that I am very excited about living downtown, I feel like being in the heart of Petaluma will help me understand and enjoy the town even more.

So here’s to Downtown Petaluma living, and may this home be juuuust right!
